For 2500 years, Buddhism has taught meditation as a means of cultivating tranquility, kindness, and wisdom. Research confirms meditation's positive effects on body and mind. Meditate NYC begins with an afternoon of meditation instruction by Buddhist teachers from a great variety of traditions, interspersed with periods of movement and music. The event is FREE and everyone is welcome!
Program  

Meditate NYC will take place on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at the Synod Hall on the campus of the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine, at Amsterdam Ave and 110th Street, from 1 pm to 6 pm. Bring a cushion or something comfortable to sit on.

Learn about the Buddhist meditation resources that New York City has to offer! Meditate NYC’s afternoon of meditation will be followed by a week of free Open Houses, October 22 – 29, at dozens of meditation groups and dharma centers throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
Open Houses  

With instruction by teachers from a range of Buddhist schools, MeditateNYC is an accessible way to find out what various approaches to meditation involve and what the benefits are. Anyone who is interested in meditation is encouraged to attend any and all events.
